October 2024 Recap

Well October has come and gone, and let me tell you. It was another jammed packed month for us. September is a generally busy month for us as we are busy with events, sales are generally higher and then extracting. Well in October, it’s basically a catch up month.

So we’ve been busy with getting everything organized and cleaned up from September’s craziness.

Plus in October we had a visit from an OMAFRA Officer and OMAFRA Food Inspector, which is always a nail biting scenario - but it went so good! We love when inspections go better than planned, but no matter how prepared you are you are always still nervous.

We have finished extracting all of our honey for the 2024 year, we have cut all of our comb honey for the 2024 (smaller quantities then usual but that’s okay!), the only main task left is finishing up melting wax.

Like I’ve mentioned before, getting beeswax ready to use is a process - trust me! I generally melt it and filter it down about 3-4 times. This way I can ensure that I got all of the impurities out of it.

As much as it feels good to be caught up, we are about to hit the holiday busy season. So there is no rest for the wicked yet!

With all that being said, I’ve decided to focus some more energy on candles. I get so many requests on different beeswax candles I should do, as a lot of you enjoy fun candles but don’t want to use paraffin wax candles. Well don’t you worry - I got you!! I have ordered so many fun candle molds to work on for this holiday season. Some will be for the holiday season only and some will stay year round. And just in case you missed it, I launched two new candles recently (I’ll share the photos down below).
